In this Sonoran Desert Off Road Video, we head out for a scenic desert UTV/SxS adventure in the Sycamore Creek OHV, 32 miles from our home in Apache Junction, AZ. We’ll test our skills on some challenging trails with ratings as high as 7/10, enjoy amazing desert views, tackle some sketchy climbs, & share another real-world trail riding experience. This ride started as a fun desert adventure with Robin & our out-of-town guest, Sabina, plus Bill’s family -Salli & Hayley. It focused on excitement, scenic terrain, & keeping the ride smooth enough for everyone to enjoy. We unloaded at the Sugarloaf Mountain OHV staging area off Highway 87. We soon crossed Sycamore Creek & made our way onto rugged desert trails that delivered climbing, ridge driving, technical sections, & incredible Arizona scenery. What began as a trail ride quickly turned into even more of an off-road adventure when we came across a lone UTV/SxS tipped into a bad position on the trail. Oh my! That rescue added a whole new level of excitement & showed us exactly why riding off-road with other machines is a critical safety net. Staging area (33.68109, -111.50538) off Hwy 87 and the 4 Peaks turn off. Staging is on the west side of Hwy 87 off trail #402. 2. Right on 402/Sugar Loaf/Sycamore Creek out of the staging area (33.68109, -111.50538). Rated 4/10 3. Drive across the creek. It’s 402 on one side & 1855 on the other. 33.69447, -111.53874 4. Left on FDR1857B (33.71378, -111.54043) 5. Exciting climb/descent (33.71338, -111.54231) 6. Right on P4022/1857B/Sycamore Creek (33.70515, -111.5583). Rated 4/10 7. Right turn on a dead end trail to rescue a SxS on its drivers’ side (33.71046, -111.55616). 8. Made a U-Turn & continued on P4022/1857B/Sycamore Creek 9. P4022 becomes 3470 (33.70372, -111.55832). Right on P4062. This trail will take us to Quartz Mountain/Crystal Palace. It's a short climb to the top, with a quick left then right. Exciting! 10. At Quartz Mountain/Crystal Palace (33.70289, -111.56368) make a sharp left of this ledge. Multiple trails down. Pick the right one for your machine & skills. 11. At the bottom turn right on FDR1876. It’s time to climb! 12. Left on FSMT-1853B (33.70458, -111.56839) 13. Left on FMST-P4010 (33.69793, -111.5731). 14. Drop off the ridge, still on FMST-P4010 (33.69108, -111.57529). It’s fun going down or up! 15. Drive straight across the creek at 403 (33.66757, -111.57414) to the bottom of Widow Maker. 16. Pick a slot. Have fun going up and down. Many choices! 17. When you are finished, facing away from Widow Maker into the creek, turn right into the creek bed. This FDR 1849/Sycamore Creek. 18. Continue on FDR 1849 until you reach 1851 (33.66576, -111.56388). Turn right on 1851. 19. Right on 402/Sugar Loaf/Sycamore Creek (33.68598, -111.53671) 20.
