Monthly Planner Art April Ephemera

Today I’m finishing my April planner pages with simple doodles + light watercolor—plus I’ll show you how I turned a problem page into a functional envelope pocket for plant tags and nursery notes. Keep it simple, use what you have, and let’s make “no page left blank” art together. In this video: • Add soft watercolor (greens + blues) to doodles, tags, and planner pages for an easy, cohesive look • Create faux “vintage tape” with clear tape + alcohol inks for quick, grungy accents • Fix a tricky back page by adding an envelope as both a tuck spot and a pocket • Use ripped book pages for texture and a vintage base layer • Watercolor leaves two ways: wet-on-wet drops vs. brush painting for deeper shading • Finish details with fine-line black and white gel pen highlights (after paint is dry!) • Make quick pockets + tags using book pages backed with cardstock Supplies (use what you have): light watercolor set, water + brush, book pages, envelope, clear tape, alcohol inks (ginger/latte/caramel tones), rubbing alcohol, glue, cardstock, paper trimmer/scissors, black fine-line pen (or watered-down black gesso in a fine-tip bottle), white gel pen. If you’re creating in the middle of real life (moving, busy seasons, limited supplies), this is your reminder that simple can still be beautiful. If you try any of these ideas, leave a comment—I’d love to hear what you’re documenting in your planner this month.
