Updates on Velveteen, thank you for supporting her as she continues to fight

Over the past few days, many of you have been following Velveteen's story. We have the most beautiful community and I am very grateful for the way that you have shown up and rallied for her recovery. After spending one night back at the sanctuary, Velveteen took a turn so we brought her back to the hospital. She had to undergo a 3rd surgery to remove fluids and “gunk” from her intestines. Her veterinary team continues to monitor her closely. Our entire focus remains on giving her every opportunity to recover. While Velveteen was hospitalized, the veterinary hospital informed us that they received anonymous phone calls from individuals seeking information about her. We were also told that some callers represented themselves as being associated with The Asher House. At this time, we do not have evidence establishing that these events are connected. However, because of the information that has been shared with us, we believe it is appropriate to document everything carefully and allow the facts to guide any conclusions and our actions moving forward. For that reason, we are preserving records, cooperating with the appropriate professionals, and reviewing all available information. We will continue to follow the evidence wherever it leads and will not speculate or draw conclusions before the facts are established. If we learn additional verified information, we will share updates as appropriate. Until then, we respectfully ask everyone to avoid speculation, allow the appropriate processes to take place, and keep Velveteen in your thoughts as she continues her recovery.
