The Beauty of Simple Countryside Living | Embracing Seasonal Habits: Thrifting, Baking & Sewing 🍞 Rustic Poppyseed Bun Recipe (from scratch!) Poppy Seed Buns (9 pcs) Dough: • 300 g flour (sifted) • 15 g fresh yeast • 120 ml warm milk • 40 g sugar • 40 g melted butter • 1 medium egg • ¼ tsp salt • ½ tsp vanilla sugar Filling: • 120 g poppy seeds (soaked 10 min, drained, ground) • 70 g sugar • 20 g butter • 1 egg white • Optional: vanilla sugar or cinnamon Topping: • 1 egg yolk + 1 tsp milk Steps: Activate yeast: mix milk, yeast, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tbsp flour. Let foam (15 min). Make dough: mix dry ingredients, add egg, butter, and yeast mix. Knead soft dough. Let rise 1 hr. Prepare filling: mix all ingredients until smooth. Shape buns: divide dough into 9, fill with poppy mixture, roll & shape. Second rise: 20 min on tray. Bake: brush with yolk + milk. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 18–22 min.
