An aunt prevented an attempted kidnapping of her niece at the largest maternity hospital in Piauí. Auricélia Rocha presented herself as a nursing technician at the unit and placed the newborn inside a bag to try to leave the hospital unnoticed. The employee was off duty on the day of the crime, but went to the maternity ward and claimed she needed to perform tests on the baby. The child's aunt did not leave her side at any time and noticed when the woman went into the bathroom to change clothes. Upon exiting, Auricélia was carrying a bag. When she confronted her, the relative found the newborn inside the bag, while the suspect was already heading towards the hospital exit. After the case gained attention, Auricélia Rocha was admitted to a psychiatric clinic by her family. The following day, police waited for her medical discharge to execute the arrest warrant. At the nursing technician's home, investigators found a room prepared to receive a baby.
