Badminton Double Defence: How to play a long defence in doubles
In the double disciplines it can be really helpful if you are able to play a long and high defence over the opponents front court player. In this video i will show you how to generate enough power in the little time you have when you defend a smash. -- Additional tipps ------------------------------------------------------------------ If you want to generate speed with your racket in a short period of time there are two options: Using your fingers and/or your forearm. In doubles you should try to use both, to play a long defence, all the way to the back. To be able to do that you need the right grip. The V-Grip is the best grip for creating power with forearm rotation but it is hard to use fingerpower, especially from your thumb. With the thumb you have the opposite: perfect grip for fingerpower but hard to use rotation in your shots. The solution is the so called backhand grip, that lies in between those two grips. I go in detail on it in my Grip Tutorial: • Badminton Grip Tutorial: 4 different Grips... If you look at different top players, you will see different styles in double defence. Some use more rotation and less fingerpower than others (or the other way around). Using more power from the thumb usually results in a more linear movement that gives you more control and makes it easier to hit the shuttle properly. Rotation gives you more power and makes it easier to get more height into you defence. Just keep in mind that there is noch right or wrong. Experiment a little with the grip and different styles of hitting and find a way thats works best for you. -- More Videos --------------------------------------------------------------------- You liked this tutorial?
