Stravinsky, Berg, Boulez y Bartók | Cuarteto Diotima

The political and aesthetic convulsions of the twentieth century affected the string quartet. The video of the Quatuor Diotima reflects this unrest by comparing works that aspired to construct a new order after World War One (such as those by Alban Berg) and compositions that sought to reconstruct the world on the ruins of the past (such as those of Stravinsky). Added to them are works such as those by Boulez, who questioned the point of creating beauty after the trauma of World War Two, and Béla Bartók’s third quartet, an example of the validity the genre retained throughout the century.
