For more than a year and a half, Cash Investigation has been investigating these nursing homes. We’ve done the math: they receive over €1.086 billion in public funds. Through exclusive testimonies and confidential internal documents, Élise Lucet and the Cash Investigation team reveal the methods these companies use to maximize their profits, often at the expense of residents' well-being and employee working conditions. At Korian, the market leader, nursing homes reportedly generate more than €1.3 billion in annual revenue. Families, employees, and former collaborators accuse the group of making profitability its top priority. The DomusVI group, ranked third in the sector, relies on another approach: real estate. It invites private investors to purchase rooms in its facilities. However, this investment, marketed as entirely safe, can turn out to be very risky for these small-scale property owners. Journalist Marie Maurice also scrutinized the accounts of this highly discreet group. DomusVI receives millions of euros in public funds annually. However, thanks to a sophisticated tax scheme, it pays no corporate taxes on its profits in France.
