You would have no doubt heard the news that Bobby Prince, the composer for the original Doom soundtracks, as well as games such as Wolfenstein 3D and Commander Keen, passed away recently. Even though I hadn't grown up playing the Doom games and only discovered them while I was in high school, his soundtracks left a big impact on me, and on the gaming industry as a whole. I was coming home from the Supanova Comic Con in Sydney when I found out about the news, and while I was reading it, I had the thought to revisit an old cover of mine from 2016, which funnily enough is my most viewed VGM cover to date, even though I think the mix on the original cover is atrocious. I used all of the same instruments as on my original recording, including my Jackson Rhoads V, which I haven't used in a cover for almost 10 years (   • Pokémon R/B/Y - Victory Road - Metal Cover   was the last time I used it). That being said, there's also the addition of some extra instruments, including my LTD Snakebyte, and my Korg M1, as well as a Kurzweil K2000S I picked up for a very good price (as for the duct tape on it, it fell one time when it was leaning on something and the brittle plastic shattered on the base panel, so the tape is now structural). My original cover was recorded with the knowledge I had at the time, which for drum recording, was basically nothing, so as a result the drums sounded thin and harsh, and the mix was pretty rudimentary. I wanted to revisit it in order to hopefully do it justice, and to pay tribute to the composer of the original soundtrack.
