The question of John's two disciples following Jesus, "Where are you staying?", is not a request for information, but rather a verification of the identity of the one whom the Baptist had identified as "the Lamb of God." Jesus turns around and invites them to his home, essentially to study him. Following Jesus, being a disciple, is not about joining a club or identifying with a flag, but about experiencing life in a community. With the "school" of Jesus, in other words, the Church is born.
