In 1951 Coronet Made a Film About Going Steady. It Ended by Admitting It Didn't Answer Anything.
In 1951 Coronet Instructional Films made a film about going steady with no narrator and no answer. Marie waited for Jeff's calls. Jeff rarely called. Jeff then called Diane to ask her to a dance and had to be reminded he was going steady with Marie. Everyone knew except Jeff. Jeff was the one who was going steady. The film ended with a title card admitting it hadn't answered anything. The film was aware of this. Previously in America explores the films, footage, and ideas that shaped everyday American life — sourced entirely from public archives.
