DRYING & PRESERVING HYDRANGEAS / Three Ways I Dry My Hydrangeas I start drying my hydrangeas in late summer. I usually use them for Christmas decorations or other home decor. To cut the hydrangeas, I use Ikebana scissors. The scissors should be sharp to avoid crushing the hydrangea stems, which would make it harder for them to absorb water. Alternatively, a sharp knife will work. For drying and preserving, you will need: Version 1. Hydrangeas Hairspray or dried flower spray Clothespin and line for hanging Scissors Version 2.
