The Meaning of Triangle Pose (Trikonasana): In Sanskrit: Tri = three, Kona= angle, Asana=Pose So, Triangle pose means Trikonasana It is also called Uthita Trikonasana, Uthita means extended, So this standing pose is called as Extended Triangle Pose **Triangle Pose (Trikonasana) Step-by-Step Instructions with Breathing:** Step 1: Feet together, shoulders rolled & back, stand upright in tadasana, hands on waist Step 2: Inhale deeply, spread apart the legs sideways 3 to 3 and half feet, raise the arms sideways, in line with the shoulders, palms facing down. Step 3: Turn the right foot sideways 90 degree to the right, turn the left foot 60 degree to the right, Keeping the left leg stretched and knee tightened. Step 4: Exhale and bend sideways from the pelvic to the right side, now slowly bring the right palm near the right ankle; if possible the right palm should completely rest on the floor. Step 5: Stretch the left arm, bring it in line with the shoulder and extend the trunk. Now gaze at the tip of the finger outstretched left hand. Step 6: Remain in the position from 30 second to 1 minute, breathing deeply and evenly. Slowly lift the right palm from the floor, Inhale and return to the position i.e Tadasana. **Triangle Pose (Trikonasana) Adjustments** Not doing any asana is much better than doing the asana in a wrong way, that’s why these adjustments are critical to any pose. Let’s see what are the key things to remember while doing Triangle pose. 1. a. Widen your feet not more them 3-31/2 feet (short person can reduce a bit and long person can increase a bit) feet should pressing the ground, and the weight of your body is balanced equally on both feet. b. Right foot sideways 90 degree to the right. c. Bend from the Pelvic. d. In the Final position: The back of the legs, the back of the chest and the hips should be in a line. Keep the right knee locked tight by pulling up the knee-cap and keep the right knee facing the toes. **Triangle Pose (Trikonasana) Benefits** 1.
