The credit data sharing system is intended to increase competition between banks and other credit institutions and enable lower interest rates for consumers. The Bank of Israel's research division examined for the first time whether the use of the credit data database did indeed affect interest rates on car loans granted by non-bank credit institutions - including designated financing companies, car importers, leasing companies and credit card companies.
