VN24 - Warendorf / Germany - The 40-tonne semi-trailer truck with fresh meat left the B475 federal road at around 03:45 at night and landed in a ditch, where it crashed into a tree and completely broke off its crown. According to the 56 year old driver's own statement, the truck had been caught by a gust of wind on an almost straight stretch of road and started to lurch. In the process, the refrigerated trailer hit the unpaved bank and slid down a slight slope towards a water ditch. Starting at 07:15 the federal road was closed on one side. Traffic from Westkirchen was diverted at the junction of L831. From 9:10 a.m. onwards, the B475 between Warendorf, junction B64 and Westkirchen was completely closed. This could be lifted at around 11:30 a.m. after the complex recovery by a crane and subsequent cleaning of the roadway. The driver from Salzkotten remained uninjured.
