CONHECENDO mais de ABAETÉ!!

We are here in Abaeté and we've gathered some people to talk a little about the history and culture of this beautiful and friendly city: Christiane Ribeiro, Brenu Melgaço, and Marlone Oliveira. Christiane, from the local newspaper Nosso Jornal TV, tells us about the beginnings of Abaeté, with the arrival of the first explorers in 1730, the gold mining attracting more people, the end of the indigenous peoples who lived there, and the emancipation in 1877. Professor Marlone talks about the people and culture of Abaeté, and how art is very important to this population in a city that has produced artists such as the viola player Renato Andrade. And Brenu talks about the Cidade Menina School of Arts, which operates in an old restored mansion and provides artistic education for young people in the areas of theater, music, dance, and also film, with award-winning projects touring the world! Together with our guests, we will discuss the controversy surrounding the meaning of the city's name. What does Abaeté mean? Some say one thing and others say another.
