It is the most important building in Mexico. This place has housed tlatoanis, viceroys, emperors, and presidents from the time of the Aztecs to the 21st century, and has been the seat of power for more than five centuries. The National Palace is located in the heart of Mexico City and has witnessed pivotal events in the country's history. It was built on the ancient Aztec palace of Motecuhzoma Xocoyotzin and became the official residence of the viceroys of New Spain.
