2025 Marin Bobcat Trail 5 | The Beginner Hardtail to Buy For Around $1k?

We finally received our 1st Bobcat 5 which is the highest trim for the Bobcats and a $300 premium over the Bobcat 3. Are the upgrades worth the extra cost? That depends... The Marin Bobcat has finally been updated for the new model year (2025). Technically they are going away from model years but it isn't clear how they will name them (like gen 4, 5, etc) so for now who knows, all I know is this is the new one. If you are in the USA, The drivetrain is essentially the same as the last couple year's Bobcat 5 drivetrain despite the misleading Cues information on Marin's website. The Fork is newish (slightly beefier than before and black stanchions). Instead of Shimano brakes, the Bobcat now has Tektros just like the rest of the line. So in summary, your $300 gets you an 11 speed drivetrain, external cub bottom bracket, and a nicer coil fork with rebound adjustment. We are a small MTB specific bike shop in Spring, TX.
