"ഇല്ലത്തെ തിരുവാതിര" Our Thiruvathira Celebration |Traditional Ettangadi, Koova and Many More !!

The bathing, fasting, chanting of names, playing the Thiruvathira in the cool morning of the month of Dhanu, then the nightly chat with everyone, the offering of Ettangadi and the heating of the Pathirapoo are endless! Perhaps because of the lack of sleep, it is not surprising that the stars in the sky seemed to be playing the Thiruvathira in the courtyard of the ancestral home as if to surpass it 😀. While lying on the lap of the Malayalam, the Thiruvathira songs that I had heard and practiced were resounding in my mind with pride. The light of the lamp, the smell of burning oil, the cool wind, and the ancestral home standing in the background, all combined to be devotion and heritage. Sree Parvati performed severe penance and vows to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Thiruvathira is also considered the birthday of Lord Shiva. Therefore, auspicious women and girls celebrate Thiruvathira on this day by observing the severe penances and rituals performed by Sri Parvati on that day. The virgins observe Thiruvathira fast for getting a good groom and the auspicious women for the long life and health of the bride and the maintenance of the marriage. Earlier, the celebration was for seven days. The celebrations are led by elderly women. If we compare the hearsay, the information available from the elders and the knowledge inscribed in the books, there may be slight changes in the methods of celebrations in different countries. Due to time constraints, the brevity of the ceremonies is depicted here. Thiruvathira Celebration in Dhanu "Illamthe Thiruvathira" Traditional Ettangadi, Koova and Many More !! Therefore, married women and girls celebrate Thiruvathira on this day with fasting and rituals, reflecting the severe penances and rituals performed by Goddess Parvati on that day. The Thiruvathira fast is observed for the sake of getting a good groom for the maidens, for the sake of the health and well-being of the husband and for the preservation of the marriage. Previously, the celebration lasted seven days. The celebrations are led by older women. Due to time constraints, the brevity of the ceremonies is depicted here. thiruvathira vratham, dhanumasathile thiruvathira, thiruvathira I am Namitha. I was born and raised in a small village in Kerala. I am a food lover like my father. I also love to do farming, crafting and I get the basic knowledge from my father. I used to stay in the city too, but wherever I go, I always try to maintain tradition and passion as much as I can. I always try to make things different, so I started gardening, ornament making etc. Whenever came to hometown I spend most of the time in our families "Tharavadu" where I get several knowledge's and ancient utilities and many more. simply sitting on the verandah while raining will give some special nostalgic feeling. Food is always a precious thing which makes us happy throughout the day. Rasakkoottu started with my interest in cooking. Through my videos, my intention is to recreate old lifestyle and cooking techniques and visualize those memories to the new generation whenever I am at my home town. I also would like to picturize current food cooking styles in possible traditional way whenever I stay in city. I always like to explore more on traditional cooking within and outside Kerala too. I personally like to prepare the food by myself and enjoy serving it to my family. There are lots of back end support from all family members even though they are not ready to come in front of camera. Special thanks to them too. Hope you enjoy my videos.
