Then it goes where the BIWAK team has always felt most comfortable: In the mountains. “Tien-Shan” – the mountains of heaven, is what the locals call the longest mountain range in Central Asia, stretching from eastern Uzbekistan through Kyrgyzstan far into China. At the Great Chimgan, a three-thousander peak not far from the Uzbek capital of Tashkent, the crampons are strapped on - and with a local mountaineer, it's a sweaty and demanding alpine climb skyward into the Heavenly Mountains.
