The global wheat market is going through a period of strong turbulence, driven by the explosive combination of the worsening conflict in the Black Sea and the worst North American harvest in the last two decades. While prices in Chicago are hitting record highs for the 2026 and 2027 contracts, the scenario in Brazil presents an atypical and worrying calm for the industry. With mills reporting stable sales, the domestic market remains stable, but under the threat of significantly more expensive imports. Vlamir Brandalizze draws attention to the import cost, which could soon jump to the range of 1,800 reais per ton. After a period of stagnant prices and tight margins, the rice market in Brazil is beginning to show consistent signs of recovery, seeking to emerge from the so-called 'bottom of the well'. With prices in the western border region of Rio Grande do Sul and on the coast of Santa Catarina showing significant reactions, the sector is now trying to balance the price per sack with the high production costs that still challenge the viability of the producer. The main driver of this reaction is the record performance of exports, which have already exceeded 1.2 million tons year-to-date. Vlamir Brandalizze projects that the flow of shipments will remain strong, providing the necessary boost for Brazilian rice to maintain its upward trajectory in the coming months. The national bean market is entering a phase of important adjustments with the progress of the third harvest, especially of irrigated beans planted in May. The entry of this high-quality product has exerted downward pressure on the prices of the Carioca type, which saw prices fall from around 500 reais to around 300 reais per sack. The scenario for black beans is different. With the harvest practically complete and a supply gap expected in August, Vlamir Brandalizze comments that the grain maintains greater stability, signaling a possible window of appreciation due to product scarcity in the short term.
