How To Paint MDF Edges

I explain how I seal the edges of MDF before painting to make them paint just as nicely as a hardwood. Wood Filler from DAP: https://www.dap.com/products-projects... Titebond II: http://www.titebond.com/product/glues... My favorite primer for MDF: https://generalfinishes.com/professio... Process for sealing the edges: (Note: I use high pressure MDF for my builds. This is NOT what you get off the shelf at the big box stores. Results with box store MDF will not be as good.) 1) complete any router edge profiles or roundovers. 2) sand all edges with 220 grit and a hand sanding block. 3) mix titebond II with a very small amount of water. 4) apply mixture to any MDF edges that will be painted with a brush, a light coat is all you need, just enough to saturate the edge. 5) let dry for at least 1.5 hours. dry time varies with weather conditions of course. 6) sand LIGHTLY with 220 grit and a hand sanding block. 7) test for a smooth feel with your fingertips, and don't forget the corners! 8) follow your normal prime & paint process.
