In this video, I explain which exercises you should not do with a herniated disc to avoid worsening symptoms or aggravating your injury. If you suffer from a herniated disc, protrusion, bulging disc, or any type of disc disease, it is crucial to know which movements can be harmful, especially during the acute phase of pain. Here, I'll talk about exercises you should avoid, from spinal flexion and rotation to seemingly harmless everyday movements, such as bending down to pick up an object or getting out of bed. I'll also provide recommendations for modifying these movements and performing activities safely, protecting your spine and promoting a faster recovery. Taking care of your back is the first step to reducing pain and improving your quality of life! Objectives: 1. To inform you about movements that can worsen a herniated disc. 2. To teach safe alternatives for daily activities. 3. To avoid pain and irritation in the lower back. 4. To provide practical recommendations for each phase of recovery. Exercises to Avoid: • Spinal rotations: Twisting can compress the discs and aggravate the hernia. • Forward flexion: Including bending the spine to pick something up from the floor or tie your shoes. • Lateralizations (side flexion): Avoid bending sideways to reach objects, especially in the acute phase. • Getting out of bed incorrectly: Maintaining proper alignment between shoulders and hips is key to avoiding unnecessary strain. Instructions: • In the acute phase, avoid the indicated movements and prioritize lumbar extension exercises to relieve pressure. • In the chronic phase, you can begin to reintroduce prohibited movements in a progressive and controlled manner. ________________________________________ Time Stamps: 0:00 - INTRO 3:18 - PROHIBITED ROTATIONS 4:25 - FORWARD BEND 7:12 - LATERALIZATION (SIDE BEND) 7:47 - ROTATION AND FLEXION 8:59 - GETTING OUT OF BED CORRECTLY 12:06 - QUESTIONS 24:37 - CLOSING Remember that protecting your back is essential to avoid complications.
