To gain the woman's trust, they even showed her alleged police identification cards. They then advised her to remove her gold chain and bangles and put them in her purse. The woman claimed her home was nearby and she no longer needed them. However, the two men allegedly pressured her with a police-like demeanor and forced her to remove the jewelry. They then pretended to pack the jewelry and put it in her purse. Meanwhile, they discreetly removed the real gold chain and bangles and replaced them with fake ones. The woman was completely unaware of the exchange. The two men fled within seconds. Upon reaching home, Neeraj Kulshrestha became suspicious when she unlocked her purse and found that the real gold jewelry had been replaced with fake ones. After this, he immediately informed his family and lodged a complaint at the police control room. Preliminary investigations have led police to suspect the alleged Iranian gang, who are suspected of similarly defrauding people, exchanging jewelry and fleeing.
