Eating UK WW2 Rations When Cooking is Hard

Today I’m continuing my experiment of eating on World War II–era UK rations for the week. I start Day 3 by cooking a late breakfast, then make tea using my ration allowance, and share a couple of my favorite frugal cookbooks that reflect the spirit of “making do.” By dinnertime, I’m exhausted and don’t have the energy to cook a full meal, so I put together a simple no-cook dinner using what I have left. This day ended up being lighter and less structured than planned, but it gave me an appreciation for rationing, resourcefulness, and the realities of cooking every day during wartime.
