In the Gospel according to Luke, the Risen Lord explains once again to his disciples: As written, the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead after three days; and in his name, repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached. He then prepares them for what is to come: They need to stay in the city until “the promise of [his] Father” arrives that will clothe them with power from on high. After blessing his disciples, the Risen Lord is “taken up to heaven.” What is the effect on the disciples? Filled “with great joy,” they continually praise God. Friends, we are almost through with the Easter season. What is the effect of this season on you?
