Tpr Sarel Coetzee - Tank Gunner - 61 Mech
For 2 decades the SADF never deployed tanks in any operations. In 1987, that changed. The major advance by FAPLA towards UNITA's strongholds at Mavinga and ultimately Jamba, caused the SADF todeploy some conventional forces to stop the advance. Sarel Coetzee was a tank gunner in training when he was sent with his seniors to South Eastern Angola. This guy was in Operation Moduler, Hooper and then the last battles of the war near Calueque in Angola, during Operation Excite. He tells hie story here
