Robot hands are finally leaving the lab and moving into real-world work. Sharpa is preparing to deploy its North robot at a Dairy Queen store in Shanghai. Scott explains why making a Blizzard is a serious dexterity test, involving roughly 50 to 60 steps, tactile control, long-horizon memory and the ability to work inside an existing kitchen designed for humans. We then examine Mimic Robotics’ new M1 hand and matching U1 wearable, built around human kinematics to improve data collection, tactile learning and the transfer of human demonstrations into robot behaviour.
