Chiara Piazzesi, professor of sociology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, illustrates the fruits of her latest research on women's relationship with beauty. The conviction of beauty - How we can break women's moral obligation to be beautiful We use to say "never judge a book by its cover," but nowadays appearance matters, it counts a lot. Chiara Piazzesi, professor of sociology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, illustrates the fruits of her latest research on women's relationship with beauty. Investing, losing interest, fighting it: how do you get out of this dilemma? How does the double bond of beauty be broken? Chiara will show us a feasible way. Chiara Piazzesi is an associate professor of sociology at the University of Quebec à Montréal, Canada. She trained at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, the University of Pisa, and the University of Salento. She has worked at universities in France, Germany, Brazil, the United States, and Canada. Her current research projects focus on the sociology of intimate relationships, representations of intimacy in cultural products, practices related to digital technologies, and gender issues. Her monographs include: Towards a sociology of intimacy. Eros and socialization (Paris, Hermann 2017); Nietzsche (Rome, Carocci 2015); Truth as transformation of the self. Philosophical therapies in Pascal, Kierkegaard, and Wittgenstein (Pisa, ETS 2009). For ETS he edited, with Antonella Balestra, the collective volume Eros e discourse amoroso – Eros and love discourse (2015).
