This is the second installment of our series exploring Japanese historic sites. Today, we will visit Nara Prefecture, the heart of ancient Japan. We will tour the Umami Kofun Group, home to over 250 ancient tombs; Fujiwara-kyo, currently a candidate for a World Heritage Site; the Mausoleum of Emperor Jinmu; and the Kashihara Research Institute. Japan has always been a country that is both close and distant to us. We will likely continue to coexist while maintaining such a relationship in the future. History allows us to reflect on the past, diagnose the present, and show us the path to move forward into the future.
