Of the 208 locomotives of the 50 35-37 series reconstructed by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, a total of 74 locomotives are still preserved today. However, their condition varies enormously. This ranges from a locomotive body consisting only of large parts to a fully operational museum steam locomotive. Three locomotives have been externally restored by their owners to their standard locomotive condition. These are 50 3564 of the VSM in the Netherlands. It has been rebuilt to 50 307. 50 3580, which stands with its old running number 50 245 as a memorial in the town of Triberg, and last but not least, 50 3539. We will take a closer look at this locomotive in this locomotive portrait. It is once again in operational service as 50 2273.
