The new Audi A5 models: modern sportiness meets premium proportions • Audi Design redefines the sedan segment with the new A5 model and makes the A5 Avant even more attractive • Technology meets comfort in the cabin thanks to a new electronic architecture • First combustion engine version to enable electric driving thanks to powertrains with MHEV+ technology • Audi CEO Gernot Döllner: "The new Audi A5 shines with its sporty design, new interior and modern electronic architecture. It also marks the launch of our new generation of efficient combustion engines. The 2.0 TDI with 150 kW (204 hp) (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 4.7 – 5.3; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 123 – 140; CO2 class: C) sets new standards in the Audi A5* thanks to its MHEV+ technology. This two-litre engine from the EA288 evo generation inherits the optimised combustion of its predecessor thanks to the cylinder pressure sensor, TwinDosing for exhaust emission control and two balance shafts for smooth engine operation. It develops a torque of 400 Nm between 1,750 and 3,250 rpm. The 2.0 TDI is available with a dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel drive or with the quattro ultra drive. To improve efficiency and comfort, the engine is partially electrified using the new 48-volt MHEV+ system. The electrified powertrain components reduce CO2 emissions thanks to high recuperation performance. In addition, the comfort of the TDI is further enhanced by a 48-volt starter generator for smooth engine starting. The engine's reaction time when starting is reduced and the car is significantly more manoeuvrable. The Audi S5* is the sports version with a 3.0-litre V6 TFSI engine developing 270 kW (367 hp) (combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 7.5 – 7.9; combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 170 - 179; CO2 class: E) and enhanced with an optimised combustion process. It is equipped with a variable turbine geometry turbocharger and, for the first time, MHEV+ technology. The new S tronic double-clutch transmission in the Audi S5*, designed for more torque, also reduces the weight on the front axle and improves agility. Partial electrification using the new 48-volt MHEV+ system reduces CO2 emissions thanks to electrified drivetrain components and high recuperation performance. Its fast and dynamic torque underlines the sportiness of the Audi S5*. The standard addition of a quattro sport differential with torque vectoring, in combination with an adjustable clutch of the all-wheel drive, enables lateral dynamics of the highest level. More dynamic chassis and steering The Audi brand's long-standing handling characteristics have also been improved in the new A5*. Thanks to careful work on the suspension and steering, the Audi A5* offers precise, neutral and effortless handling. If the suspension option with adaptive dampers is selected, the vehicle can be modulated between comfort and sportiness. From now on, only Audi progressive steering is used in the new A5*.
