Filename : Cchest2.wad (and cc2_m24f.wad) Title : Community Chest 2 Map : MAP24 - The Mucus Flow Category : UV Max Exe : DSDA Doom v0.21.3 -complevel 9 Time : 17:14 Author : Drew "stx-Vile" Devore Email : [email protected] Comments : I replayed this map casually after playing the recent Mucus Empire by Nefelibeta and needed the Doom wiki to help me figure out where the secrets were in some attempt to limp through this resource famine. Since I had learned the map enough to max it, I started with a strat to get all three keys first thing and then do one round of cleanup with the weapons/ammo from the start, go back and get the rest, then complete the map. The end was still a problem as I was running out of resources during the final area, but I made a tweak to the route that makes the hell knights, revenants and macubus groups in the hallway by the yellow key kill each other. It's a risky start but once it's done, the ammo problems are resolved and, while it still requires two trips back to the start, it saves a lot of ammo for the end and makes it much easier. Before the route change that included the infighting strategy, I had a 19:00 exit and some failed attempts at the end. This was the first exit using the strat and the first to actually make it past that part with the yellow key onward, so it's a bit of a rough run but I've had my fill of this map for now. I do appreciate it more after having spent the time learning it and coming up with my own route, something I should be spending more time on before recording.
