New Hope & Ivyland Railroad 40: The Lahaska Limited [HD]

On a beautiful weekend in may of 2021, New Hope & Ivyland Railroad fired up their 2-8-0 "Consolidation" No. 40 to kick off steam operations for the year. These trips would follow 40 as she climbs the numerous grades and traverses through the hills of Bucks County for a short 45-minute round trip. Each trip would depart New Hope, PA and follow the former Reading New Hope Branch to Lahaska. The small yet mighty locomotive put on quite a show for all railfans lining the tracks, as she was equipped with a melodic 6-Inch Crosby 3 Chime and a five car train with a steel caboose. The warm temperatures and clear skies also allowed for the addition of an open air car, allowing passengers to take in the lush scenery and vibrant greenery that surrounds the line. Enjoy the trackside views of this Baldwin romping through the picturesque scenery of Bucks County brought to you by Keystone Rail Productions! History of NH&I 40: New Hope & Ivyland Railroad 40 is a 2-8-0 consolidation built in December of 1925 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, PA. The engine was originally built for Lancaster & Chester Railroad in South Carolina. In 1962, 40 was eventually purchased and moved into the Reading shops in New Hope, Pennsylvania alongside her stablemate, a Canadian National 4-6-0, 1533. In 1974, 40 was restored to operating condition and hauled excursions on the newly formed New Hope Steam Railroad alongside 1533. In 2014, an FRA mandated 1,472 day inspection sidelined 40 until late 2017, when the locomotive was finally returned to service after the major rebuild. Today she shines a New Hope & Ivyland's lone steam star, and is sight well worth it for any railroad enthusiast.
