Layla was diagnosed with aHUS, a rare renal condition. Kidney Care UK chatted with Layla and her dad, Andrew, at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle. Layla's diagnosis came as a shock to Andrew and Sarah, Layla's mum. Andrew and Sarah initially thought Layla had some kind of infection, but after they noticed bruising on her legs, swollen ankles, and blood in her urine, they realised that it was something more serious. After chatting with Dr Yincent Tse at the Great North Children's Hospital, Layla was diagnosed with atypical Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (aHUS).
