Jacob's story | Living with kidney disease | Kidney Care UK

Jacob was diagnosed with kidney disease a few days after starting secondary school. He's been on dialysis since, and he is now in the process of receiving a kidney from his dad. We chatted with Jacob and his mum, Michelle, at the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle. Jacob's diagnosis came as a shock as Michelle initially thought Jacob was just nervous about starting school, but after a few blood and urine tests, they were told that things weren't right. Six months later, Jacob started haemodialysis. Jacob still receives regular haemodialysis treatments at the moment, but both he and his dad now are being worked up to undergo a kidney transplant and it shouldn't be long until Jacob is able to receive a kidney donation from his dad. 🎦 Living with kidney disease Playlist:    • Living with kidney disease   💻 Website: https://www.kidneycareuk.org 👍 Facebook:   / kidneycareuk   📸 Instagram:   / kidneycareuk   #kidneycare #kidneydisease #stories
