The Ministry of Health & Wellness, through the Bahamas National Drug Council (BNDC), marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by convening national stakeholders to advance Project JAMBOREE. This innovative initiative is designed to prevent substance use among Bahamian adolescents while promoting emotional well-being through evidence-informed prevention strategies and principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Drawing on findings from the 2023 Global School Health Survey, Project JAMBOREE will help equip young people with practical life skills, including: • Emotional regulation • Mindfulness • Healthy decision-making • Positive coping strategies Representatives from government, education, health, social services, law enforcement, faith-based organizations, community groups, and youth-serving agencies came together to review the programme framework and provide recommendations for implementation. Through Project JAMBOREE and other youth-focused initiatives, the Ministry of Health & Wellness remains committed to prevention, early intervention, and building healthier futures for young people across The Bahamas.
