TheWhiskyAnorak Review 16B - Blended Malts
TheWhiskyAnorak Review 16B - Blended Malts Welcome to my review 16B where I will be taking a look at Blended malts in general, talking about them and introducing some bottles from my collection to explain the different kinds you might come across Coming up next in review 16C I will be comparing the Smoking Islay from 16A to your choice out of the following 3 options. Please go to the posts tab on my main channel page to vote! The voting will close on Thursday 25/06/26 at 12pm UK time Here are the 3 options: 1. Knockdhu 18yr 58.9% (IB by Chorlton Whisky) [An intensely peated version from Knockdhu distillery matured in a Hogshead (no further details known), whose brand name is Ancnoc for the OB releases. This might be a good counterpoint to the smoking Islay as it is quite phenolic but using highland peat] 2. Ballechin 19yr 55% (OB) [Fully matured in a first fill ex-manzanilla cask for 19 years, like a lot of Ballechin expressions it retains it’s peat intensity for a long time compared to a lot of distilleries, even at this age it is still a raw, uncompromising expression] 3. Caol Ila 7yr 57.3% (IB by Fragrant Drops) [A young Caol Ila finished in a 1st fill Palo Cortado Hogshead, a good choice if you want to compare an intensely peated youngish single malt to the Smoking Islay blended malt which may contain Caol Ila] Thankyou for watching and for your votes Further details about my channel and how I go about things: I'm TheWhiskyAnorak,I am an Anorak, and what I'm an Anorak about is whisky (mainly single malts), rum and other quality spirits and so I review them, I’m based in the north of England. No editing, just my opinion, reviews and waffling. Here to enjoy the journey and keep learning and experiencing. All bottles are purchased by myself with my own money, I do not do samples. A, B, C format for the videos (e.g video "1' will be in 3 installments; 1A, 1B, 1C and so on for following videos) A's are reviews of the bottle in question B's are further details (be it further production details, distillery details or other related content to the main 'A' review) C's are comparisons to other bottles (will almost always be open to poll) A's - SUNDAY release B's - TUESDAY release C's - FRIDAY release Review scores....i don't like percentage or out of 10 scores personally My version of a review score is the following, 3 questions: Would I buy this same bottle again? Would I buy a similar bottle again? Would I buy from the same distillery/bottler again? Thank you for your time Any questions please feel free to comment
