I Planted a Food Forest For My Ducks (No More Mud Pit)

They say duck runs always turn into mud pits. That's just what ducks do and you have to accept it.I didn't accept it.This is the story of how I took a bare muddy run and turned it into a living food forest for my ducks — complete with a homemade self-filtering pond that turns muddy water crystal clear. Inside the run right now — Jerusalem artichokes, crimson clover, lambs quarter, cover crop mixes, lettuce, and a pond with three layers of filtration built from a bucket, lava rocks, dish sponges and pillow stuffing. Total cost almost nothing. We also hatched 8 ducklings at home this spring and today they're going into their new home for the first time. This is part of my bigger mission to grow as much food as possible for my animals right here on half an acre so I don't have to keep running to the feed store. If you're raising ducks and tired of the mud pit — this video is for you. 👟 HISEA boots — what I wear for all my duck and chicken chores: Kids Lightweight Deck Boots: https://www.hisea.com/kids-lightweigh...
