Singapore Has Deer? Looking for Sambar Deer in the Wild
When people think of wildlife in Singapore, they often think of otters, monitors, or macaques. Few expect this, Singapore is home to deer. This video follows a quiet early morning in search of the Sambar Deer, the largest deer species in Southeast Asia. Once rarely seen, these shy animals now live quietly within Singapore’s forested areas. According to conservation volunteers, Singapore is home to five known herds of Sambar Deer, with around a hundred individuals spread across protected habitats. Filmed at first light, this encounter offers a brief glimpse into a life that often goes unnoticed, one that survives through patience, space, and quiet dedication. Thank you to the conservation volunteers whose work helps keep these places alive. If you enjoyed this quiet moment in nature, you’re welcome to like the video and subscribe to join us on future wildlife outings and mornings like this. #singaporewildlife #sambardeer
