കോട്ടയത്ത് രാവിലെ നല്ല ദോശയും ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് കുടംപുളി ഇട്ട മീൻകറി കൂട്ടിയുള്ള ഊണും കഴിച്ചിട്ട് ഞങ്ങൾ വൈകിട്ട് ചെറുകടികൾ കഴിക്കുവാനായി ഇറങ്ങി. അവിടെ ഉള്ള ഒരു ബജ്ജി കടയും പിന്നെ കട്ലറ്റ് കടയും ആണ് ഞങ്ങൾ ആദ്യം പോയത്. ചെറുകടികൾക്കു രണ്ടും ഉഗ്രൻ ആണ്. ബജ്ജിക്കടയിൽ നിന്ന് കഴിച്ച മുട്ട ബജ്ജി നല്ല അടിപൊളി രുചി. അടുത്ത കടയിലെ പഴംപൊരിക്കു നല്ല മധുരം. മുളക് ബജ്ജി അത്യാവശ്യം എരുവുള്ളതായിരുന്നു. അതിനെ മെരുക്കാൻ ഒരു നാരങ്ങാവെള്ളവും കുടിച്ചു ഞങ്ങൾ ദോശക്കടയിലേക്കു പോയി. അവിടെ നിന്ന് ഞങ്ങൾ പോയത് നാടൻ ഭക്ഷണശാല എന്ന് പേരുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ ഹോട്ടലിലേക്കാണ്. പറോട്ടയും ദോശയും ചിക്കനും ഒക്കെ കഴിച്ചു. രുചി നന്നെങ്കിലും ചെറുകടികൾ ആണ് എനിക്ക് കൂടുതൽ ഇഷ്ടമായത്. തട്ടുകട രുചികൾ കിട്ടുന്ന ഒരു ചെറിയ ഹോട്ടൽ എന്ന് വേണം ഈ ഹോട്ടലിനെ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാൻ. ദോശയുടെ കൂടെ തട്ടുകടകളിലെ പോലെ നല്ല ചുമന്ന മുളക് ചട്ടിണി കിട്ടി. ഈ കടയിൽ കൂടുതലും ആളുകൾ ഭക്ഷണം പൊതിഞ്ഞു കൊണ്ട് പോവുകയാണ് പതിവ്. After enjoying a wonderful fish curry meal from Thali Restaurant in Kottayam, we continued our Kottayam food hunt. This time we started with Kerala snacks that included many varieties of bajjis, pazhampori (banana fritters) and 5 rupees cutlet. We tasted these from two shops located side by side. One had good pazhamporis, while the other served us tasty egg bajjis. I liked both the places as they served traditional Kerala snacks. After that, we went to a nearby hotel, Nadan Bhakshanshala, for some parotta, dosa, and chicken varieties. This shop was more like a hotel selling thattukada tastes. Dosa and chutney had a similar style. I enjoyed the snack selling kiosks more than this hotel. But I learned that this hotel is also popular among the immediate locals as a takeaway spot.
