കോട്ടയംകാരുടെ മീൻ കറിക്ക് എന്താ വിശേഷം? Kottayam Fish Curry Meals (Thali Restaurant) +Thattu Dosa

What's so special about Kottayam Fish Curry? This is a question that many people have asked me. Yes, Kottayam fish curry is special. It has a red-hot, spicy and sour gravy made using Malabar tamarind and many other spices. We enjoyed wonderful Kottayam Fish Curry Meals from Thali Restaurant in Kottayam, but before that, we had soft and yummy Kerala dosa from a small tea shop near Kumaranelloor Temple. Both were extremely tasty. And I really enjoyed my breakfast and lunch in Kottayam. Breakfast was a simple affair with soft dosas and runny coconut chutney from a small kiosk near Kumaranelloor Temple in Kottayam. They serve Kerala porotta too, but I loved the filling and simple taste of Kerala dosa to start my day. Lunch was more lavish. Fish curry made with Malabar tamarind has no match, this is my belief. But to my surprise, it was not just the fish curry which I loved there. Aviyal served with the meals was equally tasty. കോട്ടയംകാരുടെ മീൻ കറി എന്ന് സ്ഥിരം കേൾക്കുന്നതാ പക്ഷെ, അതിനെന്താ ഇത്ര വിശേഷം? വിശേഷം മറ്റൊന്നും അല്ല - നല്ല എരിവും പുളിയും ഉള്ള മീൻ കറി; അതും നല്ല കുടംപുളി ഇട്ടു ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന മീൻ കറി. ഞങ്ങൾ മീൻ കറി കൂട്ടി നല്ല ഊണ് കോട്ടയത്തു കഴിച്ചു, പക്ഷെ അതിനു മുൻപ് തന്നെ നല്ല അടിപൊളി തട്ട് ദോശയും (അങ്ങനെ വേണ്ട നല്ല നാടൻ ദോശ എന്ന് മതി) കഴിച്ചു. കുമരനെല്ലൂർ അമ്പലത്തിനോട് ചേർന്ന് ആണ് ഈ ദോശക്കട, പക്ഷെ കോട്ടയം മീൻ കറി കൂട്ടി ഊണ് കഴിച്ചത് താലി റെസ്റ്റോറന്റിലും. കുമരനെല്ലൂർ ദേവി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന് അടുത്തുള്ള ഈ ചായക്കടയിൽ കോറോണക്ക് മുമ്പ് പല കടികളും വിളമ്പിയിരുന്നെങ്കിലും ഇപ്പോൾ ദോശ ആണ് പ്രധാനം. ഒഴുകി നടക്കുന്ന ചട്ടിണി കൂട്ടി ആ ദോശ കഴിച്ചപ്പോൾ മനസ്സ് കുട്ടിക്കാലത്തേക്ക് പോയി. താലി റെസ്റ്റോറന്റിൽ ചെന്നപ്പോൾ മീൻ കറിയുടെ പാചകം നടക്കുകയാണ്. കോട്ടയം സ്റ്റൈൽ കുടം പുളി ചേർത്ത മീൻ കറി എനിക്ക് എന്നും പ്രിയം ആണ്. പക്ഷെ മീൻ കറി കൂടാതെ അവിടുത്തെ അവിയലും എനിക്ക് ഒത്തിരി ഇഷ്ടം ആയി.
