The Interinstitutional Committee for Asset Recovery (CIRA/SP), composed of the São Paulo State Finance and Planning Secretariat, the São Paulo State Public Prosecutor's Office (MPSP), and the State Attorney General's Office, with the support of the Civil Police and the Military Police, launched Operation Distrato this Wednesday (July 15th), aiming to dismantle a scheme involving the sale of counterfeit ICMS credits, used by companies to improperly reduce the tax owed to the State. The operation seeks to gather evidence, identify economic beneficiaries, and hold those involved accountable, who may be charged with crimes against the tax order, criminal organization, fraud, document forgery, and money laundering.
