Talike Gellé is a female singer-songwriter, storyteller, dancer and percussionist from Ifotake, in the south of Madagascar. She uses traditional Madagascan forms and techniques such as Gagnaoke (songs from the forest), guttural sounds, drimotse (a percussive sound made with the throat), daba-tratra (percussive beating of the chest) and jera-fe (percussive beating of the legs). She is the lead singer of Tiharea, a trio specialized in polyphonic singing in Antandroy, the language from the south of Madagascar and forms the duo Talilema with valiha-player Kilema. After being one ot the members of Blindnote, an award-winning multicultural band supporting the NGO Light for the World, which cures blind people in Africa, she joined the vocal project Voxtra, The Encounter of Vocal Heritage of Finland - Madagascar - Albania - Belgium – Sardinia. Voatse ('pearl') represents the musical life of the people of the thorns (the name given to the Antandroy, people from the south of Madagascar). In their local community music is part of daily life. Elle est issue d'une famille de musiciens: sa mère était chanteuse et son père accordéoniste. Talike est à l'origine du trio vocal Tiharea, spécialisé en chants polyphoniques en Antandroy, la langue du sud de Madagascar. Voatse ('perle') représente la vie musicale du peuple des épines (un surnom donné aux Antandroy, les gens du sud de Madagascar). La musique fait partie de la vie quotidienne dans cette région du sud. Les instants de joie, de tristesse, de labeur ou même les pleurs, là-bas ils chantent tout. Voatse est le nom d'une maman qui pleure en chantant depuis qu'elle a perdu la garde de ses enfants. --- Talike Gelle is afkomstig van het dorpje Ifotake in het zuiden van Madagascar, en komt uit een uiterst muzikale familie : haar moeder was zangeres, haar vader accordeonist. Talike is de frontvrouw van het trio Tiharea, gespecialiseerd in polyfone zang in het Antandroy, de taal van het zuiden van Madagascar. Daarnaast vormt ze, Talilema een duo met valahi-speler Kilema. Ze maakt ook deel uit van Blindnote, een groep die de ngo Licht voor de Wereld (geneest blinden in Afrika) steunt en concerten in het donker doet. Muziek maakt deel uit van het dagelijkse leven in het zuiden. Bij vreugde, verdriet, bij het werk of zelfs tijdens het wenen, zingen ze er.
