For the temple of God is holy, and you are like that. 18 Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this world, let him become a fool, so that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God, as it is written: “God makes the wise fall into their own traps.” 20 And the Lord [who is wise] He said that He considers the thoughts of men to be vain. 21 Therefore let no one boast about men, for all things belong to you. 22 Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or things present or things to come, all are yours. 23 You belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God. 4:1 Let us be regarded as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 And it is required of stewards that they be faithful. 3 It is a very small matter to me that I be judged by either you or by others, and I do not even judge myself. 4 I am not aware of anything to reproach myself for, but this does not mean I am justified. Only the Lord is the one who judges me. 5 Therefore do not judge anything before the time comes, that is, until the Lord comes. He will bring to light things hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the heart. Then each person will receive praise from God. 6 Brothers, I have used myself and Apollos as examples for you in this matter, for This is so that you may learn from us not to go beyond what is written, and not to have a proud heart toward one another. 7 Who distinguishes you from others? What do you have that you did not receive? Since you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? 8 You are already full, you are already rich, and you have become kings without us. We truly desire that you become kings, so that we may reign with you. 9 I think that God has placed us, the apostles, at the very end as those destined to die; we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. 10 We are foolish for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honorable, but we are lowly. 11 Even to this very hour we are hungry and thirsty, naked and beaten, homeless. 12 We labor and work with our own hands; when insulted, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; 13 when slandered, we exhort; we have done this until now. You have become like the filth of the world and the dregs of all things. 14 I do not write this to shame you, but to exhort you as my beloved children. 15 For though you have ten thousand teachers in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for I have begotten you in Christ Jesus through the gospel. 16 Therefore I exhort you to be imitators of me. 17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my works in Christ Jesus, that is, what I teach in every place and in every church. 18 Some have become arrogant, as if I would not come to you. 19 But if the Lord permits, I will come to you soon and see not the words of the arrogant, but their power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in power. 21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love and gentleness?
