Turtleboy Moves to GUT Karen Read Lawsuit

Become a Member of the BBQ Counselor Today!    / @bbq_counselor   NEW DEVELOPMENT IN THE KAREN READ CASE Aidan Kearney—better known as Turtleboy—is asking the court to throw out a significant portion of the civil lawsuit brought by Jennifer McCabe, Brian Albert, Colin Albert, and Brian Higgins arising from his coverage of the Karen Read case. In this video, I break down Kearney’s partial motion to dismiss. The central argument is that Brian Albert and Brian Higgins were law-enforcement officers and therefore qualify as “public officials” under defamation law. If the court agrees, they must plausibly allege that Kearney acted with “actual malice”—meaning that he knew his statements were false or seriously doubted their truth. NOTE: In the video I accidentally mixed up Brian and Chris Albert. Brian was not a town selectman. But, my analysis of him w/r/t being Boston PD applies the same. He's a public official almost certainly and the issue here boils down to actual malice.
