5 Days Camping in the Narrowest Fjord in the World

My friend Paul and I spent 5 days canoeing, camping and hiking through the wild Norwegian fjords during an unforgettable wilderness adventure in Nærøyfjord. Surrounded by towering cliffs, storms, waterfalls and complete silence, we paddled through one of the most dramatic landscapes in Scandinavia. We set off from the quiet village of Bakka, tucked beneath towering cliffs, and began our canoe journey through the mirror-like waters of the fjord. With all our gear packed, we paddled towards the tiny village of Undredal, famous for its goats and traditional cheese, surrounded by steep green walls that seem to rise straight out of the water. The silence of the fjord was often broken only by the splash of our paddles – or the rumble of distant thunder. Camping wild along the fjord's edge, we spent our nights in a tent, falling asleep to the sound of rain drumming on the canvas. Some days, the weather tested us with wind and waves that turned the fjord into a challenge, but the moody skies and swirling mist only added to the raw beauty of the landscape. We made fires with driftwood, cooked fresh-caught fish, and embraced the simplicity of life outdoors. In the heart of this adventure, we left our canoe behind for a two-day hiking trek, starting from Dyrdal, a roadless settlement only accessible by boat or foot. The trail took us high above the fjord, through lush alpine meadows and past grazing sheep, until we reached the stunning plateau of Breiskrednosi. The view from the top was nothing short of breathtaking – a bird's-eye panorama of the serpentine fjord far below, cutting through the mountains like a silver ribbon. From steep cliffs plunging into icy waters, to hidden waterfalls and the stillness of untouched nature, Nærøyfjord gave us a glimpse into Norway’s wild soul. This journey was about more than just reaching a destination – it was about embracing the unknown, reconnecting with nature, and sharing the experience with a good friend. Whether you’re into paddling, hiking, or just love remote landscapes, this is a trip that might inspire your next adventure. --- Support my off grid living in the wilderness Patreon   / cezaroutdoors   PayPal https://www.paypal.me/CezarOutdoors --- Instagram   / cezaroutdoors   Facebook   / cezaroutdoors   --- My other channel    / cezaroutdoors   --- Contact: [email protected]
