On Ukraine’s Constitution Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed that strikes against Russia’s war machine will continue. Earlier, he approved a 40-day campaign aimed at increasing pressure on Russia. “We are likely to see even more strikes on oil refineries, as they have proven to be exceptionally vulnerable to attack,” Michael MacKay, former lecturer at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, said on World Talks. Recent Ukrainian strikes suggest that Russia is struggling to effectively protect even Moscow, despite deploying significant resources to the capital’s defense. Ukraine has been using domestically produced Flamingo cruise missiles for striking deep inside Russia. While technologically simpler than many Western systems, they have proven effective against Russia’s air-defense network.
