First Time Fishing the Clarence River | The Dream Tour Ep. 1

Fishing the Clarence River for the First Time | Dream Tour Ep.1 In this video, I start what I’ve called the Dream Tour — an eight-day road trip down the NSW coast chasing bream in completely new water. Episode 1 begins on the Clarence River. Big rock walls. Tidal flow. Dirty water pushing through the system after rain. The kind of place that forces you to slow down and really pay attention. I’d heard the walls can act like highways for fish in heavy flow, so that’s where I started — fishing tight to the stones and trying to work out exactly how they were positioning in the current. How close they were holding. How they wanted the lure presented. Whether they’d respond to something scraping and deflecting across the top once the water started pushing over. As the session unfolded, a few early bites confirmed a pattern. Later, with more water spilling across the wall, it built into something better. This wasn’t about numbers. It was about figuring out a new system from scratch — and marking the first proper session of the trip with a quality fish. The Dream Tour is about exploring new systems, testing trusted patterns in unfamiliar water, and filming the whole process honestly — leading into my first ABT event further down the coast. This is just the beginning. — Gear I Used: Rods & Reels: Daiwa Infeet setup Lures: Daiwa Infeet Kodachi Cranka Crab Boat: Quintrex 350 Explorer Outboard: Yamaha 15hp Electronics: Lowrance Sounder, Minn Kota Electric Cameras: Fujifilm + DJI Osmo Action — Key Areas Fished: Clarence River rock walls Tidal current edges Trawlers further up the system — What This Session Reinforced: Rock walls can become feeding lanes when flow increases Rising water changes positioning — especially when it starts pushing over structure Sometimes the first proper fish in a new system means more than a full bag Exploring new water rewards patience more than chaos This series will follow the full road trip — new rivers, new decisions, and eventually stepping into my first ABT event of the year.
