Notes: — The fact that “administering” the sacrament didn’t encompass “passing” the sacrament is further evidenced by a 1913 Improvement Era article that lists the duties of deacons, teachers and priests. While it was the duty of a deacon to “pass the sacrament,” it was the duty of a priest to “administer the sacrament” AND “pass the sacrament.” They are listed as two different things.
